Not only is today's entry on a Saturday tie, it has two ties! I took my son Pierce to his friend's bar mitzvah today, and we both wore ties. I wore the one on the left, a black Format tie of luxurious crinkled silk with woven red and gold pattern. Pierce, making his modeling debut on the tie blog (pause for applause), wore the tie on the right, a Save the Children tie called "Schwiggles," designed by Shantai, age 8. Does he look just like me, or what?

Peep-toe boots are normally a big fashion no-no in my book. There's something that just seems wrong to me about boots that have an open toe: I mean, can you think of an occasion when your feet would be cold enough to require boots, but at the same time warm enough for you to want to feel a little air circulating around your toes? I can't, which is why I think it's a crying shame that Moschino Cheap & Chic have chosen to ruin what would have been a gorgeous pair of ribbon-toe booties by opening up the toe.
Without that small detail, these would be stunning: the purple patent leather is fashionable at the moment, and the ribbon laces make the look ultra-feminine. Then there's that peep toe. Now, I guess you could just about get away with this if you managed to hunt down a matching pair of tights to wear with them, but I'd much rather have the gap filled in. What does everyone else think?

Now, I can see how having handles on the sides of your boots could be a good idea when you're pulling them on, but would you want to walk around with a set of handles on your legs, I wonder?
If you would, Sugar are the company to provide those handles for you. Their 'Handle This' boot is $52.95 and is available in this bronze colour at Shoemall - you can also find them in black, elsewhere. I'm not keen on the chunky shape of the toe, although I do like the colour - what does everyone else think?

It doesn't really get much sexier than this, does it? The sides of these purple peep toes by Report Signature are so low that they'll put a lot of foot on show - a sure-fire way to make sure your shoes get you some attention! Although the sides are low, though, the bow at the front is over-sized, so you'll be able to retain a little bit of foot-modesty by hiding your toes under that frayed ribbon bow!
Available in black, grey and this season's purple, they're $174.95 - a small price to pay for shoes as curvy and delicious as these ones.

This is one of those shoes that I just can't make my mind up about. When I first found it on the Shelleys website I wasn't keen, but the more I look at them, the more I start to like their quirky shape. They come in either black and gold or blue and silver, and although they're 65, I think they look more expensive - there's a "designer" look to that stand-up front, and they're certainly not boring. I'd wear them with opaque tights and shorts, although I'm not quite sure whether I'd get the black or the blue versions.

The Kurt Geiger and Agent Provocateur collaboration is online now and as expected the collection is hawt. You wouldn't expect anything less, especially as the range is titled 'Pure Sex'! You can take your pick from strappy mary-janes (this season's must have), schboots and a pair of ultra-daring over the knee leather boots. Pictured above are Misty, Jenny and Peep, see after the jump for product links.

When it comes to buying very fashionable shoes that are probably going to look dated by this time next year, you sometimes don't want to spend too much money on them. One of this season's big shoe looks is the black and white high heeled Oxford, but rather than pay designer prices, you can get a similar (albeit inferior) style from Delia's for just $34. These will clearly never compare to the designer versions, but if you're not quite sure about this style and would like to try it out without spending too much money, they could be an option. They're also available in plain black and pewter.

Before I say anything about these shoes I must explain that I do like the colour pink, quite a lot in fact. I painted my entire bedroom pink a few years ago and I have nothing against the girly colour at all. However, I am not sure that pink is a great colour for shoes, especially not this shade. I like the style of the shoe, and in theory I like bright coloured heels but it just doesn't work. I think they scream "I'm a girl, so obviously I like pink". Also, they're 65 from Topshop! I don't understand how Topshop justify pricing their shoes so high. If you do have a pair, wear them on Friday for 'Look who's wearing pink' day.

Did they think it fit the 'menswear-inspired' trend, in that it looks like it's made out of an old suit? Or was it the lace-up design that they somehow linked to brogues that have been so popular of late? Whatever it was, it was a long (and demented) stretch of the imagination that brought them to the conclusion that these were saleable; and even at 15 down from 44.99, they're still asking far too much!

I'm forever looking for smart chic flats and these babies from Faith seem to fit the bill. They're grey patent which makes a nice change from black and reduced to a bargaintastic 12. As soon as I spotted these birdseed shoes over on our ethical shopping blog, Hippyshopper, the theme tune to Hitchcock's 'The Birds' started playing in my head. They're expensive at $795, but although the colour is dramatic, the shape is classic and very wearable.

These violet slingbacks aren't quite shoes, but they're not quite shoe-boots either: leave it to Scorah Pattullo to come up with something unusual! We spend a lot of time here at Shoewawa talking about shoes you can wear outside, for work and for play, but if you're a true shoe addict, you probably don't like to pass up the opportunity to splash some cash on the odd pair of indoor shoes too - or slippers, in other words!
Now that the cold weather is starting to set in (here in the northern hemisphere, anyway), bare feet and stocking soles are no longer an option, so here are five pairs of slippers to tempt you, kicking off with River Island's metallic and faux fur creations, which come in glamorous winter white and a slightly frightening animal print, for 14.99. More after the jump.

Ballet flats and Mary Janes - two of our most loved shoe styles, so it makes sense to take that look and turn them into slippers, doesn't it? Next have done just that, creating slippers that will almost make you look like you're just wearing your regular outdoor shoes. Price is from 8 - 10.

There's a good chance you're cringing in horror at the very sight of these, but hear me out. Even their detractors will grudgingly admit that Ugg boots are hard to beat in terms of comfort and warmth, and in the privacy of your own home, no one need ever know that you're wearing them. These Ugg-style slippers are 12 from Barrats. Don't worry, we won't tell if you don't...

These aren't actually slippers - they're Indian beaded Khussa shoes, but they're my personal favourite house-shoe of choice, because they're both comfortable and glamorous. These don't provide a lot of warmth, true, but the leather sole makes them perfect for padding around the house, and if you feel silly in big, fluffy creations, they could make a nice alternative to more traditional slippers. As an added bonus, when it gets to summer, you can wear them outside the house, too - although be prepared to have family members constantly asking why you're wearing your "slippers" in public.

More ballet flats, this time in traditional pink and from Crabtree and Evelyn. I love the "pointe" toe and the way they mimic the appearance of proper dancing shoes - I think the temptation to pirouette across the wooden floors in my house would be too much for me in these! They're $37.95 and also available in gold satin.

There is so much eighties fashion around at the moment, I even invested in a batwing jumper (highly impractical but very warm!) So it's not a big surprise that eighties heels are back, too. These multi coloured low heels could have walked straight out of the 1980s but are actually from No One boutique in East London. They're 169 and are made from suede and leather. I have a tendency to overlook catalogue companies like Look Again when I'm searching for shoes to show you here at Shoewawa, so I was pleasantly surprised to find these cream leather Mary Janes on their website this week. I adore cream shoes: the colour is both dressier and more versatile than black, and can be dressed up or down as required. When the cream leather is piped with black, as it is here, and added to a pretty MaryJane shoe, with button detailing, it's just about perfect. The price is almost perfect, too - 39 isn't bad for leather shoes.

Though this tie is from Biella, I could almost swear I've seen the same pattern on a Missoni tie. I inadvertently robbed it of its color impact by wearing it with a shirt that matched the dominant color; if I had it to do over again I would wear it with an off-white, or ecru, or eggshell, or pale yellow shirt. But I don't, I've worn it once and that's that. C'est la vie.

Of the three pairs pictured, Christian Louboutin's Black suede thigh highs are the most expensive, at 920, while Stella McCartney's Stretch over the knee boots come in at 465 (despite looking like the cheapest of the three, I think), and Delman's lower budget offerings are $332.

You'll have to excuse my leanings towards peep-toes and sandals lately - the downside to living in the Southern Hemisphere, I'm afraid - but I thought I'd make it up to you by showing you these very wintery courts! In a colour reminiscent of the darkening winter skies - brightened a little by the floral embellishment and contrast stitching - the thicker heel makes them suitable for slippery days in the rain. Every now and then we experience what can only be called a female faux pas, be it an exposed bra strap, a blister on your heel, a bit of frizz or a foundation line moment. Well, hopefully with the Shemergency kit these occurrences will be rarer as it includes 24 useful items from hair ties and mirrors, to nail polish remover, safety pins, deodorant remover, lip balm, tampons.. the list goes on and on. It's $20 from Wishing Fish and for what they supply I think you'll agree it's well worth the money.

I'm almost over embellishments and gems but when I saw someone walking down the street in these shoes last week I fell in love with them all over again. The gem is like a glossy ice cube and these shoes are so classy they're a great heel substitute. The satiny uppers and cutaway side give it a ballet effect and they're guaranteed to lend some chic to your outfits this season. As ever Marks and Spencer offer an accessible way to tap into a trend with these shoes retailing at just 19.50.

For a few years now, I've been constantly on the lookout for a great pair of boots in my very favourite colour - green. I'm not quite sure these green leather-effect ASOS boots are them: the grass green colour is perfect, but the overall shape is a little clumsier than I'd ideally like. All the same, these are an interesting pair of boots, and they look like they'd be comfortable, too, with the demi-wedge heel and almond-shaped toe. They're also very reasonably priced, at 35. These are boots that look better on than off, so if you're still not convinced, take a look at the ASOS website to see them on the model.

While half the world is lamenting the waning sunshine, those of us in Australia are starting to feel the heat; thus the hunt for summer sandals begins! It was the vibrant colour of these peep-toe wedges that initially caught my eye - almost an overzealous granny smith apple kind of hue. Definitely too bright for winter, but perfect for accessorising one of those lovely cotton-print dresses that are so readily available this year! If you fancy some footwear that will keep your feet cool on hot summer days, you can pick up a pair for 30 from La Redoute.

If you love shoes and lingerie, this is going to seem like a match made in shoe heaven... Lingerie specialists Agent Provocateur (yes, that is Maggie Gyllenhaal in their latest campaign) have teamed up with Kurt Geiger to create a range of eight shoes. The collection is called 'Pure Sex' (this is Agent Provocateur we're talking about, remember) and contains everything from strappy court shoes to wet-look over the knee boots.
There are no images available yet, but the collection is due to launch in just a couple of days time, on October 24th, so be sure to check back then - and expect "sexy" to be the watchword...

It looks like Moschino is on a roll this season, what with their disco-tastic heels last week, and now these exemplary treats for your feet! Taking 'brogue-detailed' to an entirely new level, with their mix of suede and patent trim, these seriously feminine heels are the kind that will last you a lifetime (or a few months, in the event that you want to wear them every day!). Time for another quick look inside the shoe cupboard of one of our readers! This week it's the turn of Lesley, who has sent in this picture of her favourite shoes. Lesley writes:
"These are, without a doubt, my favourite shoes. They are by Accessoire, in chocolate brown suede with a wedge heel and platform, thin strappy bits and an amazing crystal brooch at the front. They are even lined in suede, so the soles of your feet feel like they are being caressed! They are even more precious and amazing to me as I find fashionable shoes incredibly difficult to get in my size, a UK 2. Hope you like them as much as me."

More of our readers' favourite shoes

Here in the UK, it's finally starting to get cold enough to wear boots, and while there's a part of me that's really excited to be able to get my winter shoe collection out again (and add to it!), I'm also already missing the ease of summer shoe-dressing.
Although I love the look of winter boots, I much prefer summer shoes: partly because I'm a big fan of sandals and peep toes, and partly because it's just so much easier to get dressed in summer! In winter, you don't just have to think about boots and shoes - you also have to think about tights and socks, and although that's far from a big deal, I much prefer being able to throw on a pair of sandals or mooch around the house in my flip flops and bare feet.
Today's Monday Question, then, is an easy one. What's your favourite shoe season? Are you a summer lover, or more of an autumn/winter girl? (And if you're lusting over either of the shoes above, by the way, both the boots and the flip flops are from Faith).
You may not be able to afford red soled shoes a la Christian Louboutin, but these little 'Heartstoppers' stickers will allow you to show a little flash of red when you walk.
As cute as they may look, though, the purpose of these is purely practical: after all, no one likes sliding around on slippery-soles stilettos, and when you combine them with the black ice of a typical UK winter, they can be downright dangerous. The 'Heartstoppers' are made of PVC and are designed to give you traction on even the slipperiest of surfaces, so you'll have no more embarrassing moments when you fall off your high heels. And even if you do, well, at least your soles will look good. They're 4.95 for two pairs from Pretty Pink Toes.

I love a pair of quirky flats, because not only are they great when you're building an outfit from the shoes up, but they're a nice change from all the plain ol' ballet styles that are out there. In a stand-out geometric black-and-white print, the red trim takes them to the next level. While the ankle strap might not tickle the fancy of everyone, for the trendy girl about town, they'd look best with a pair of dark skinny jeans and a bright red mac this winter! If you're already picturing how you'd dress these babies, you can pick them up for 20 from Office.

These are oh so cute and remind me of summer with their pretty print and sneaker style heel. They'd be comfy to wear and perfect for chilling out in the park and posing by the basketball courts. And the best bit.. they are so soo cheap. I'm talking $7.99 from Ami Style which is just ridiculous, I mean that's practically Primark prices for something this cute!

It seems like the autumn/winter stock has only just hit the stores (and thanks to the weather, some of us haven't even had much of a chance to wear it yet!) and it's already on sale. That's good news for shoe shoppers, of course, especially at Dorothy Perkins, whose sale started today, offering 50% off selected items. Included in the footwear sale are (from l-R) pewter embellished flats, 10; silver jewelled wedges, 15; black t-bar courts, 15 and red patent ballet flats, 7.
As with any sale, there's only a limited amount of stock available, so if you see something you like, I'd suggest you snap it up before it's gone (like the grey dress I've had my eye on for weeks which is no longer available in my size).

True shoe lovers know that what you wear under your shoes can be almost as the shoes themselves - so no tights with open-toed sandals, and the knowledge that a great pair of tights, hold-ups or stockings can give your killer heels that bit of extra "oomph". Today, however, there's even more of an incentive to slip into a pair of sexy stockings: Charnos have declared today to be National Stockings Day, and they've created a small range of stockings and hold-ups with pink bows on the top to support the charityBreast Cancer Care.
The range is available to buy in the UK via Figleaves, with a percentage of the sales going to the charity. So, tell me: do you wear stockings? Or are you more of a socks/tights/hold-ups kind of girl?

Of all of the embellishments that can be added to shoes, chains would have to be my least favourite, bringing to mind tacky ankle-straps and dangling gold accessories. Not these ones, though. Stuart Weitzman has actually managed to keep his "chain shoes" tasteful, by putting the chain on the sole rather than using it as a strap, and I think it's worked out quite well. It certainly makes these 'Chainto' pumps a little different from all the other black patent shoes that are available at the moment, and the metallic heel compliments the sole perfectly. They're $299 at Nordstrom.

Not everyone was convinced by Rachel Zoe's assertion yesterday that every woman should own a pair of animal print shoes, so for this week's Play the Shoe Stylist, I'm challenging you to build an outfit around... a pair of animal print shoes! These ones are by Moda in Pelle , and as well as the print they also have red heels, a big bow and a diamante buckle. There's a lot going on there - can you create an outfit to wear with them?
Remember to read the rules before submitting your outfit , and have lots of fun playing the shoe stylist!
If you detest glitter (so last year, apparently), but still long to blind passersby with your footwear, then Moschino is your ultimate destination this season! Made from fabric absolutely covered in sequins, the effect is literally set to stun. A great way to outshine your competition at the work 'do' (yes, Christmas is almost literally upon us now!), you'll need to see the larger photo for the full effect. Suffice it to say, that these are not suitable for wallflowers; they're $623.95.

I have to admit to owning more than my fair share of New Look shoes, so the news that the company has won the 'Best Shoes' category at the Company High Street Fashion awards didn't come as much of a surprise to me.
With prices generally remaining between 15 - 25 for shoes (and just a little more for boots), and styles that are heavily influenced by the catwalk, in terms of value for money, New Look is hard to beat, and if the shoes don't last for more than a couple of seasons, well, they're not really meant to. (Although, to be fair, most of my New Look purchases have lasted much longer than that). Another big point in their favour is the constantly-changing selection: they seem to manage to always keep up with fashion, and a lot of the shoes are made from leather, which makes the low prices even more remarkable.
What does everyone else think of New Look's shoes? Was their award at the High Street Fashion Awards justified?

Stella McCartney famously refuses to use animal products in her clothing and shoes. This often prompts people to ask why her items are so expensive. However, now that so much research has been done in to alternative materials fake animal products are often more expensive than the real thing. I like McCartney's clothes quite a lot and would love to only buy her shoes. I particularly like these cracked patent wedges with a teeny tiny wedge. The ankle strap with buckle detail looks great, ideal for wearing with skirts or under jeans. They're 315 which is not quite within my budget. You can get them from net-a-porter.com.
Scorah Pattullo's 'Femi' sandals (230) are obviously made for special occasions, but the dark petrol blue makes them a lot less showy than they could be. If you're brave enough, some shiny opaques would bring out the gorgeous suede wonderfully but I think they'd also look great with some bright fuchsia tights, to show off the tie front. Admittedly the 10cm heel looks stupendously high but it's guaranteed to bring some glamour to your party season.

I know we're already done Ugly Shoe of the Week today, but when I spotted these parent-child dancing shoes over at Dollymix, I just had to show you them. Now, I'm not a parent myself, so maybe I'm underestimating the amount of time parents actually spend dancing around with their children balanced on top of their feet, but I'm certainly surprised to find that there's a need for a special kind of shoe just for this activity. I'd also always thought the "dancing on your dad" thing happened pretty spontaneously, so I think I'd be put off by the amount of pre-mediation that would have to go into thinking, "I'm going to dance with my kid now. Better go and get the special shoes on!"
Still, if you do enough parent-child dancing to require special shoes for it, I guess these are the shoes you've been looking for. You'll find them here, but you'll have to speak a bit of Finnish to find out how to order them.
I love the look of this Mary Jane flat with the cute t-bar cross strap and the leopard-like spots: it's fun to look at and would be ever so comfortable. It would be suitable for work as well, peeping out from some wide legged trousers and you could accessorize it with a matching bag or scarf to add that je ne sais quoi to your outfit. It's $92.95 from Zappo's.

Stylist Rachel Zoe is best known for dressing Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan and a bunch of other Hollywood clones, but she's also been giving some shoe styling advice over at Piperlime, listing the five shoes she says every woman can own. It's fairly basic advice, but let's just see how many of you have each of these shoes. Rachel says we all need:
1. A timeless patent
Well, patent is big news this season, but it is a look that never goes completely out of style. Zoe's advice is to buy black, but if you want to be on-trend, navy blue is this winter's colour, and will bring your patents up to date.
Read the rest of the list after the jump...
2. A simple riding boot
I don't think I can totally agree with her here, because I don't think this style necessarily suits all shapes. Some legs (like my own) just need that little bit of lift you get from a heel, even if it's just a low one. A simple leather boot, though, is always a good idea, whatever heel height you choose to go for.
3. A stunning red shoe
I couldn't agree more. Red shoes add drama and a pop of colour to an outfit, and they go with more than you think, working well with black, navy, cream, gold, tan and even green.
4. A fabulous flat
Another thumbs up from me. Woman cannot live on heels alone, after all, and for those occasions where you're going to be doing a lot of walking, or just fancy a change, a great pair of flats is absolutely essential. I like metallics for my flats, because they go with most colours and are a bit more glam than matt colours.
5. A wild animal print
The only part of the list that I think could cause a bit of controversy! I love my animal print peep toes, and think they're a great way to dress up a basic jeans-and-vest outfit, but they're not to everyone's taste, and if I could only pick five pairs of shoes to last the rest of my life, I think I'd substitute animal print for a great pair of sparkly, strappy sandals for evening wear.
Which styles would make it into your top 5?

OK Steve Madden, you can come out of your corner - I think I'm ready to forgive you for shamelessly copying Christian Louboutin every opportunity you get. Actually, it's pretty hard not to forgive you, given that you sometimes create shoes as pretty as these silver 'Dreamin' heels , which are $100 at Piperlime. I love the cutout accents and the shapely high heel, but it's the cracked silver leather I'm really 'Dreamin' of. These are also available in black patent, and I'd have those too, if I hadn't sworn not to buy shoes for the rest of the year.

Something about the name "Madge" just doesn't suit these gold Red or Dead pumps, which look to me like they're all ready for an appearance on Celebrity Come Dancing or similar. Looked at objectively, I shouldn't really like these: the toe is chunkier than I'd normally wear, the heel is shorter, and I have a pathological hatred of logos on shoes (or on anything, come to think of it). I think the sparking gold leather and criss-cross ankle straps is what saves these though. I wouldn't wear them on a day to day basis, but I'd definitely consider them if I ever decided to take up ballroom dancing as a hobby. They're 59.99 at Viva la Diva.

I've already extolled my love of calf-length boots this week, so I thought I'd showcase a pair of ankle boots to balance things out! These snake-effect leather boots from J by Jasper Conran are terribly elegant, with their flowing shape and mid-height heel. The perfect pair for work, they'd be a wonderful match for more classically-styled women - versus the daring, trendy kind. I'm not alone in my love of these boots, either. Reduced to 37.50 from 60 at Debenhams, they're only left in a UK8!

Now, I respect Terra Plana for making their footwear out of organic fair trade materials, but these are so ugly that I almost want to make amends with Marc Jacobs on the subject of his boots! While the mix of dark brown and caramel leather isn't off-putting, the printed textile panel that makes up the entire back of these boots is just awful. In what can only be described as shocking pink; how these would gain "extra style points" (in the words of ASOS) is quite beyond me! If you disagree, and happen to be a UK5, you can pick up a pair for 105 (down from 150) from ASOS.

If, like me, your life is a constant struggle to fit more and more pairs of shoes into an already bursting-at-the seams house, here's the perfect solution: shoe parking spaces! It's simple: first, you're going to need a bit of floorspace that can be used for shoe parking. A spare bedroom will do just fine. Next, just add these special shoe parking stickers, which are the brainchild of designer Felix de Pass. (Good old masking tape will probably do the trick, too). Voila! Your very own shoe car park! You might want to just add a little sign stating that all ugly shoes will be towed...

I know it's far too early to be thinking about Christmas (unless you're one of those people who likes to buy all your gifts in January, of course), but it's never too soon to be thinking about pressies, and, more specifically, what they may arrive in. If you're a true shoe lover, the tired old "stocking on the fireplace" just won't cut it, and who wants to use an old sock when they could have a shiny, stiletto boot? These Christmas boot stockings are 19.95 each, which is almost as much as a pair of real (albeit cheap) boots, but they're a lot more fun than a sock (or a pillowcase, which is what I used to use, greedy child that I was). There's a variety of colours available, none of which you'd want to wear on your feet, but which might look good above that fireplace.

When it's been a few weeks since your last pay, and pockets that were jingling with spending money are now sad and empty; looking at designer shoes can be a bit like torture. Fortunately, though, you can still get a shoe fix, thanks to the supermarket-turned-high-street! George at ASDA can be a little hit and miss with their offerings, but I don't think you can go wrong with these bold heels. Reminiscent of Bruno Frisoni's gold-stiletto platforms (only sexed-down instead of up!), they're perfect for the tights-and-peep-toes trend; and as they're made out of patent with a small-ish 'peep', they might even fare well on a dreary day. Best of all, at just 12 a pair (in red or black), they're practically spare change!

I'm definitely seeing a trend starting to emerge here, and it's a rather worrying one: shoes without heels - or, at least, without heels in the places we'd normally expect to see them. Marc Jacobs' surreal shoes fall into the second category, and regardless of what you think of them, at least they have a heel of sorts. The ones in the picture above, though, spotted on the Antonio Berardi catwalk at Paris Fashion Week, have no such support. Instead, the wearer is expected to balance on the ball of the foot - and on top of a chunky platform! Well, I guess it'll do wonders for your balance, but maybe not quite as much for your posture or safety - what does everyone else think?

At around about this time last year, every high street retailer with a shoe concession started churning out glitter-covered shoes in preparation for the Christmas party season (yes, there's that 'C' word again!). Well, if Topshop's latest offerings are anything to go by - and they usually are - it looks like we could be in for more of the same this year. These glitter point courts are 50, and instead of using a block colour like gold or silver, Topshop have used glitter in all the colours of the rainbow, to create an iridescent rainbow effect. Personally, I think this is a look that's getting a little tired now, but if you like them, or if last year's glitter has long since been trodden into the carpet, look no further than Topshop.

La Redoute's Christmas catalogue dropped through my door this morning (always a cause for celebration!) and in it was more than a few pairs of covetable shoes! So far my favourites are these suede-effect ballet pumps, which remind me just a little bit of some of the styles at Pretty Ballerinas. The La Redoute versions, of course, are significantly less expensive, although 29 is still a little more than most high street ballet flats. For some reason, although Redoute are well known for their budget clothing lines, their shoes aren't quite so cheap. They're still affordable, though, and these ones come in black, chocolate, aubergine and rosewood - all perfect colours for fall. If you like to accessorize, there's also a matching handbag and even a top with that distrinctive rose decoration.

The trend began with classic single buckle Mary-Janes and then everybody wanted two buckles, but now you can have three! They are white, which seems a little risky to someone like me who is almost a magnet to mud. I can imagine wearing them to a (slightly dodgy) club and waking up the next day to see them completely ruined by those weird black marks that you seem to pick up in clubs. When you're paying 295 for shoes you probably> don't want that to happen. They're by Marc Jacobs and are available from Start boutique.

Amber McNaught writes...
If you're a regular reader of this column, it will probably come as no surprise to learn that I love my shoes. Lately, though, I've been thinking that I probably love my shoes just a little too much, because while I returned from my recent trip to the States with no less than six pairs of new shoes, I now find that I have absolutely nothing to wear with them. Whoops.
I think most women (or certainly most of the women I know) have their own particular "can't possibly resist" items when it comes to shopping. For some, it's makeup, while others buy dresses, and still others buy handbags. For me, it's shoes. When I see a pair of shoes I love, I absolutely must have them, regardless of whether I need them, or have anything to actually wear with them. This is how I came to have a closet stocked with lots of the kind of glittery sandals you'd wear to, say, The Oscars, when I rarely go anywhere more exotic than the restaurant round the corner.
Well, no more! After a recent shopping trip in which I managed to spend all of my money without buying any useful winter outfits, I've decided enough is enough. Something has to go, and unfortunately, it has to be my shoe-spending. For a few months at least. OK, a few weeks, let's say...
I have examined my shoe collection carefully, and I think this is absolutely do-able. I'm pretty certain that, as things stand, I have at least one pair of shoes that will be suitable for every type of event I could possibly be invited to take part in, and to go with every outfit I own. Rationally, I know the truth is that I don't actually need any more shoes. Will I actually be able to stop myself buying them, though, that's the question?
Well, I'm going to try, anyway. As of this week, I'm going on a shoe-spending diet, which will last at least until Christmas. I'll allow myself to buy new clothes, which I badly need, but absolutely no new shoes will cross the threshold of my home. In the meantime, a bunch of old clothes and shoes have been put on eBay, and a clear-out is in progress. Can I at last manage to acquire that perfect capsule wardrobe I've always wanted? And can I possibly resist all the lovely party shoes that'll be coming into stock around about now?
I guess I'm about to find out...

I know they've been getting into lots of trouble with Christian Louboutin recently, but the fact remains that if it's Louboutin look-alikes you're after, Oh, Deer! make some of the best. The problem with that, however, is that it can be hard to get hold of the brand if you don't live in the USA, so the news that UK-based LA Star Style are now stocking some styles will be very welcome to those who love them. The red shoes and blatant designer copying may not last too much longer if Louboutin gets his way, but for now you can but the sequin-covered 'Jamocha' and leg-lengthening nude 'Praline' styles for 69 and 55 respectively, plus a few other styles. There are limited sizes in stock, though, so be warned!

It's been some time since a pair of shoes had our readers split down the middle, but that's exactly what last week's Yay or Nay did. While half of you loved the cut-out brogues (I particularly liked the description "Saville-Row-serious without the stuffiness" from StyleScrybe!), while the rest thought they were more trouble than trendy. For those of you who'd like a pair, they're by Solea, and are available from ASOS for 120.
This week, we're testing out one of Shoewawa's favourite styles: the Mary Jane! Of course, this design is a little different; taking a tricky turn on the button trend by placing it on the toe! But what do you think? Does it enhance a firm favourite or have they just been playing silly buggers? Yay or Nay and why?

Giuseppe Zanotti's 'Pony' pumps inspired most of you to have lots of fun with your outfits this week. With a shoe like this, you have two basic choices: either tone down the rest of the outfit and let the shoes do the talking, or play up the drama of the footwear with some equally dramatic outfit choices. Interestingly, most of you went for the second option, and you can see the outfits submitted after the jump.
Remember, if you'd like to have a go at playing the shoe stylist, this week's shoe will be posted on Friday.

I've heard of boots that can be worn folded up or down (in fact, we featured some earlier today), but with these aqua-coloured two-tone pumps, Esska have applied the same principle to a shoe, creating a dramatic stand-up "collar" on these pumps. This isn't at all the kind of look I'd normally go for, but I actually quite like it: Miu Miu have done a few different shoes with interesting heel details this season, and these seem to be made in the same kind of style. These are 129 and are available at Lollipop London. Would you wear them?

Somehow these delicious looking buttery boots have been pigeon-holed into the clubbing section of this website, whereas I feel they'd be a pretty good purchase for a day shopping with the girls, or teamed with skinny jeans perhaps. The weather is getting colder and if I had these beauties around my ankles I'm sure my calves would be feeling toasty and the crackle upper canvas with softly rounded toe design is ever so fetching.
