"What's better than a Mary Jane?" one might well ask. Well, we have the answer for you: a pair of Mary Janes on sale! For this week's pick, we thought we'd take advantage of the slew of bargains to be had on the high street in the post-Christmas sales (our favourite time of year!) - and this pair is a doozy straight from the shelves of Dune. With a fabulously high wedge heel...
Still looking for that elusive pair of shoes to see you through the remnants of those seasonal celebrations that inevitably creep into the new year - or, indeed, New Year's Eve itself? Or perhaps looking for a pair of party perfect offerings for 2008? Then why not give Sam Edelman a ...
Dolce & Gabbana have been doing some sterling work in the shoe line recently, and if these high heeled court shoes have a bit of an 80s
Red shoes and Mary Janes - two of my very favourite things, all wrapped up in one delicious package from Anthhropologie
I'm not quite sure how to describe this colour: it's either a very pale beige or a very dirty cream, but either way, it looks like one of those colours you can wear with anything, and that goes
Polka dots tend to make me think of spring and summer fashions rather than autumn/winter ones, but these ones by Alexander McQueen would be suitable for almost any time of year. The navy and
The great thing about Office is that they produce highly wearable shoes in a variety of styles and colours. I'm c
While most of us instinctively reach for the highest heels in our collection at party time, sometimes there comes a point when your feet are just all partied out, and you have no choice but to reach for something a little more comfortable. When that point comes, I'd suggest something like
Does anyone else think these shoes look like they're sticking their tongues out at you?
Yes, it's those knot-front sandals again! It's the shoe trend that won't die, but I don't actually mind because I'm still rather enamoured with this particular style. In terms of

I don't think I know anyone who'd be prepared to spend $175 on a pair of jelly shoes - in fact, I don't think I know anyone who'd be prepared to spend $20 on jelly shoes, but perhaps I'm mixing in the wrong circles, for Fendi
Herringbone is such a great pattern for winter: there's something that's just so cosy about it, and I love the way Red Herring have stopped this shoe from being too staid by adding
At the River Island press day this month I was struck by how designers are now incorporating wood into their new shoes, namely the heels, be it pointy and stiletto like or mor
UK High Street retailer New Look has finally gone online. Hoorah! They do the best cheap footwear and are always the first with catwalk copies. I love these leather brogue shoots with a small heel. They very trendy...
I'm loving the nude patent leather trend that's going on at the moment (and has been for some time now, truth be told) - the colour definitely helps elongate your legs, and it's one of the few shades that really does go with anything. What I'm not so sure about is the tassel tie on
It's the last weekend before Christmas, and for some of you, it's the calm before the seasonal storm. We here at Shoewawa recommend that you take advantage of it, and what better way to spend a quiet weekend than rugged up in soft pyjamas and revelling in the joys that a good pair of slippers can bring! These fleecy boots would do just the trick: sensible enough to keep your ...
We look forward to seeing the clothing collection from New York designer Rachel Comey every season, but we enjoy seeing her accessories almost as much--they're quirky without being trendy, and the craftsmanship is superb. Fall 2007 has been an especially strong season, these are pieces we imagine spotting in a super-cool vintage store twenty years down the line. Creatures of Comfort has a great selection right now.

These 'Closet Jigsaw' pumps by Naughty Monkey remind me more of a crossword than a jigsaw, but let's not quibble on the name. Instead, let's talk about the hectic
Yesterday I reported that Sienna Miller and Kate Moss had finally decided to bury the hachet and end their long term feud. Last night they were out on the town again celebrating their reformed friendship however it is not...
It's that time of year again: sales are starting to spring up everywhere, and one of the best for shoe lovers is the ASOS sale, which has dozens of pairs of shoes (including some Shoewawa
I have to say my favourite shoes of the year had to be these Solea shoes, combining metallics with brogues in beautiful lace-up.
While some of you might only want your two front teeth this Christmas, we here at Shoewawa have tastes that run in a more decadent line. Dolce & Gabbana's 'Carla' peep-toes were a firm favourite this year, with their gorgeous jewelled vamp - not to mention the beautifully detailed conical heel! Certainly one that will stun onlookers from every angle, our runner-up is reduced to $409 from $585 (yahoo!) at eLuxury.Related: It's the final countdown! Our Top Twenty Christmas favourites for 2007!
When we were putting together the Shoewawa Christmas Top 20, it took us all of about 20 seconds to agree that Christian Louboutin should be number one. But which pair of Louboutins to go for? The fact that we were so spoiled for choice was definitely a sign that Mr. L. deserves his place on the top of the chart, and we eventually decided to go for these bow-backed 'Anemone' pumps, which have been causing a stir since their release earlier this winter...
I like so many things about this shoe that I don't know where to start. There's the peep toe, of course - always a Shoewawa favourite - but then there's also that lipstick red patent leather
Still searching for shoes to wear to all those Christmas parties next week? Well, Bebe are still promising to deliver in time for Christmas, so you still have time to get your hands on something

40% off Jimmy Choo? That's my kind of sale! Koodos are currently offering all kinds of special offers just in time to spend your *ahem* leftover Christmas money (after all that frantic shopping, I think you deserve a treat). Beatrix Ong's gorgeous retro lace-ups are one of my favourite finds, and you'll currently save 90 on them if you're a size 40.5 (damn). Not lucky enough to fit into any...
It's been quite the year for Roberto Cavalli: designing a collection for H&M, creating the Spice Girls' stage costumes - and now finding out that he's managed to snag the number
Well, River Island certainly got the description of these shoes right, didn't they? They've called them "giant platform", and it's hard to argue with them
Another year, another version of that fabulous Blahnik Mary Jane - and what Top Ten would be complete without one? This year's incarnation took a step away from patent and leaped into the world of snakeskin footwear. In glorious red, they'd make a fabulous...
Although not everyone agreed with us, Monsoon's 'Tallulah' peep toes checked all the right boxes for the Shoewawa staff back in July. They had the bold colour, the slightly vintage
Christian Louboutin may have kicked off the knot-front trend earlier this year, but the high street retailers were quick to pick up the baton and run with it. This version is by Principles, and
Certainly one of the more interesting trends this year, it was Miu Miu who lead the field in the ol' stick-a-ruffle-anywhere competition, which is why this unusual court takes out our Number 6 spot. A lovely blend of neutral patent palettes, which was popular with our readership too, they've sadly sold out at Net-A-Porter. Keep an ear to the ground, though. We suspect that the ruffle trend is far from over!Related: Check out the rest of our Top 20 Christmas Countdown here!
Yesterday was the office holiday luncheon; readers of this blog will not be surprised by the pants in the picture at right, because they know that that's when I perform my annual Wearing of the Bright Red Levi's Cords. The accompanying tie is the last of my polyester Christian Dior Monsieurs with the CD logo in an oval near the bottom. That particular line is hard to match in terms of imaginative patterns and vibrant color combinations. Not impossible, though, so when it warms up (April? May?) I'll return with another batch of ties. Maybe. Happy holidays and best wishes for 2008! I'll leave you with a new take on a classic Christmas song from my music blog:
The peep toed Mary Jane is becoming rather ubiquitous, so it's nice to see someone making a slightly different twist on the style. That "someone" is whoever designed these shoes for Max Studio, and the twist in question involves
If you haven't bought a pair of party shoes yet for any impending dos then these gorgeous heels from Wallis are on sale at the ridics price of 15.
It looks like most of you were out shopping for shoes (or, more sensibly, out convincing someone else to buy them for you), because last week's Yay or Nay only got a measly TWO comments! Two! Hilariously, one vote was for Yay and one for Nay, making the novelty Christmas sock fight of 2007 a tied match. If you fancy some homely kitsch socks to keep your feet warm this winter, they're just 5 from Dorothy Perkins. This week's offering...
A good pair of flat boots are a winter essential and these ruched leather numbers from River Island
Steve Madden is continuing his mission to infiltrate the UK this week, and as well as the range of shoes available to buy at River Island, some styles are also now available at ASOS.com
I hope that the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz will kindly excuse me for bringing him into this but, these boots? Well, they look like the rusty remnants of the legs he would have worn, had he been turning tricks in the forest, and when he was slim and had a predilection for pointy-toed heels and fringe detailing. Perhaps not as bad as last week's offering ...
If you're thinking it's too late now to join the bootie bandwagon, fear not - there's still time to jump aboard, and to do it for not very much money, either. These red 'Vibe" booties are from
It's our final Play the Shoe Stylist before the Christmas holiday, and we have a fabulous selection of party outfits for you to look at, all based around the silver satin tie sandals from ASOS luxe. The outfit
As much as I love my ballet flats, and have to have at least one pair (but preferably more) in my possession at any given time, they're not exactly the first shoes I'd reach for if I was going to
Vintage inspired ankle boots from Office shoes which reference two of this season's key trends; patent and '80s. These boots are in the latest Office shoe sale which is currently happening online and on the High Street. This...
It's been a rough year for Marc Jacobs and Shoewawa, whose relationship was rocked by a long series of very ugly footwear. But you know what? We're willing to forgive and forget, Marc, because: a) we're nice; and b) you did give us a few lovely offerings, the favourite of which was your cute-as-a-button mouse flats. Yes, these were the adorable originals that sparked the oft' amusing trend of animal-styled shoes on the high street. If you fancy a pair of our Number 4 favourite, they're $358.95 at Zappos.Related: Check out our Top Twenty Christmas Countdown here!
Valentino excel at making pretty, glittery strappy sandals, which really come into their own at this time of year. These ones are a particularly good example, I think, with the "bow" at the front looking more like it belongs on a Christmas gift than on a shoe. The satin
One of the most underrated stores in Britain (in my humble opinion), particularly when it comes to shoes, is Matalan. Not quite posh enough to register on many a girl's 'high street' map, the store has done a remarkable job of improving their footwear range over the past two years. Case in point, these sequin-embellished flats. They may not be 'original', but they're practical and fun; they're a great way to jazz up your jeans by day or to pair with a sparkly dress by night; and they're available in about half the colours of the rainbow, which should satisfy the requirements of ...
Here's a pair of shoes to brighten up hump day Wednesday: these spotty t-bars from
Despite the fact we film a dozen videos a week, it's been a while since shoes have been the sole subject of one of the Shiny Fashion TV vids. Hopefully this one's been worth the wait, though. Two-tone shoes are hot this season, and I've got the top three for Christmas, along with a fun wildcard choice for those of you who like a fashion challenge! Enjoy!
I have a version of these New Look boots which have a slightly different pattern on the side, and since I bought them, they have rarely left
I've mentioned before that I'm not a huge fan of tartan, but I can appreciate it in small doses,
Are you getting party shoe burnout yet? I know I am, so it makes a refreshing change to see a shoe that isn't either metallic,
Two types of shoe dominated the shoe world this year - the shoe boot and the brogue, and back in the summer, Gucci managed to combine both to fabulous effect with their 'Eva' booties
I'm always a little suspicious of boots that have cut-out details like slingbacks or (God forbid!) peep toes. They seem to defeat the true purpose of boots, which is surely to keep your feet warm
They're by designer 'Head Over Heels' but I guess the real question is whether you'll fall head over heels in love with these shoes, which come in a vibrant purple
It's that time of the week again - that dreary ol' Monday with a whole work week stretching ahead - and what better way to cheer up, than to drool over another pair of Mary Janes? This week's lovelies come from New Look (we're still crazy excited that they've taken their wares online!) and are in that gorgeous and often underrated colour - mustard! If you're keen to put a little mod ...
I'm really into brogue ankle boots at the moment, it sounds like a bit of a niche interest but there's a surprisingly large amount of these shoes about right now.
Kicking off our Top 10 favourite shoes of 2007 are these fantastic rich burgundy velvet peep-toes from Charmone. Featured in our Yay or Nay column back in November, they were a rare pair of shoes...
We've been seeing t-bars everywhere this year, so I guess it was to be expected that as Christmas draws closer, we'd start to see them in various metallic shades, for a more festive feel.
No Christmas shoe countdown would be complete without a little something from Manolo Blahnik, and while the great man wasn't on our radar this year
Actress Chlo Sevigny is famous for her quirky sense of style, and fans of that style will no doubt be pleased to hear that she's about to apply it to shoes, designing a range for Poste Mistress, which will be completed early next year.
Gingham is a fabric I always tend to associate with summer rather than winter, but given that it's a fabric I can rarely ever resist when I do see it, these pretty
Every time I see the name 'House of Dereon', my head always reads it as 'House of Derriere' - must be all that "bootylicious" talk from Beyonce, whose mother runs the line... Y'know, in case you thought I was nuts just then. Rear ends aside...

It's getting close to Christmas, so for this week's Play the Shoe Stylist, I'm keen to see all of your party outfits! I've selected these rather ostentatious looking satin tie sandals from ASOS as the
We love a vintage-styled shoe 'round here, and Accessorize has been an absolute goldmine for shoes styled after the gorgeous '20s, '30s and '40s this year! Of all the styles, though, we agreed that these beautiful 'Lucy' courts were our favourite. Versatile, with their low heel and classic court shoe shape; the mix of suede and patent makes them extra special...
Never having been a particular fan of square toed shoes (they remind me too much of the lead characters in Roald Dahl's The Witches, who had completely square feet), I
Georgina Goodman is always a Shoewawa favourite, and looking at these beautiful gold heels, it's not hard to see why. The slightly quirky shape of these reminded
The red sole is very Louboutin and the two straps are very Miu Miu, but hey, if everyone else is doing it, why can't Faith? This style is one we've been seeing an awful lot of this winter,
I love a good bargain and these Frankie shoes from Shelly's are reduced from 65 to an affordable 35.
I have only two words for these boots:Holy. Crap. They're by Christian Lacroix, and are an insane 760 from Net-A-Porter.Related: Our collection of ugly shoes that have never - until today - completely robbed Erin of her vocabulary.
If you love the look of snakeskin but aren't quite so enamoured with the idea of wearing a dead reptile on your feet, these River Island peep toes could be just your thing. With a slightly vintage look and a combination
Just to make sure you have enough to read over the festive season, Shiny Media is spending December counting down our top 100 fashion and lifestyle blogs. Today it's the turn of Shoewawa, so here are a few of our very favourite shoe blogs!
If I have one regret about 2007, it's that I didn't buy Moda in Pelle's gorgeous cut out court shoes back in August
I'm afraid that this lovely pair of jewelled sandals from River Island have a bad reputation around these parts. Namely, for breaking the shoe-loving heart of our darling editor, Amber. Still lamenting not having purchased a pair when they hit the stores...
These Irregular Choice shoes are either fabulous or frightening, and I think they're probably destined to split opinion right down the middle, as is so often the case with
It may be completely the wrong shape, but the triangular sequined panel on the front of Nine West's 'Don't Lie' sandals reminds me of a disco ball. It looks like it's been put there purely to catch the lights as you dance, so if you don't like to draw too
According to last week's Yay or Nay, Marni is still just a bit too controversial a designer for most of our lovely readers! While some of you liked the green flats with their peep-toe detail, it was the thick, almost orthopedic elasticated strap that had the majority of you running for a sick bag. They're 237 from Net-A-Porter.This week's offering...
Because we love you all and value your opinions (yes, even when you're slating our taste in shoes!) we want to give you a 16GB iPod Touch. There is a catch, though, but luckily it's not painful:
Give yourself a rosette with these cute kitten heels at Dolly Dagger. Made exclusively by Shoemissy they're available with a range of different coloured rosette's to match your outfit. They've got a reasonable size heel which would...
Oh baby it's cold outside! But why should that bother you when you're busy toasting your flamingo pals by the roaring fire. I love the deep plush lining of these slippers, and think they would look great just padding around the house. You'll sink away in their snug depths, and they'll keep you company when you're on your ow

Two outfits for you to cast your eyes over this week. Phoebe and Jule submitted two very different looks to wear with the Dollhouse court shoes: take a look after the jump to view them in all their glory!Icelandic designer Pepper & Pistol Spring 2008 collection is called Swarms. The Fall 2007 collection was Polaris and had a distinct penguin inspiration, so it seems the label has a quirky animal theme going for it. Gotta love the pink fly prints.

Christian Louboutin has dominated the Shoewawa map this year - not to mention the red carpet - and we felt that our Christmas list would be incomplete if we didn't mention one of his more controversial designs: the 'Emily' shoe boot. Spawning about a million 'inspired' copies, they were so popular a design, that they sold out before you could say "I'll take a pair in white". If you still fancy...
I'm not quite sure how to describe these Modern Vintage shoes. They're not t-straps, but they're
What with Faith currently offering up to 60% off on a huge range of styles, we felt it only appropriate that our bargain of the week was from their gorgeous collection. 'Cirdy' might be an unusual name for a shoe, but there's nothing weird about this classic black and gold d'Orsay peep-toe! What really won our hearts, though...
I was very confused by these Pedro Garcia d'orsay pumps when I first caught site of them at ShopBop. "Cute, but how on

Fancy snagging a designer piece from Chloe, Furla, Prada or Amanda Wakeley to name but a few? There's still time to take part in this little beaut of a competition! We've teamed up with designer retailer Koodos to offer Shoewawa readers a bit of a headstart in their addictive 'Fashion Frenzy' competition. Spin the wheel each day and match symbols..
When we asked you what your favourite style of shoes was earlier this year, peep toes got a lot of thumbs up, and we think these 'Petalle' peep toes by Dune were amongst the best of the bunch.
The biggest downside to fabric-covered shoes, is that they're easily ruined by a patch of bad weather; which is why I was so excited to discover the joys of textured leather! Embossed with a gorgeous leafy design (more than a little reminiscent of my favourite wall paper), these Mary Janes are the perfect balance of work and play...
"It simply can't be possible!" gasps the Faith website, but it is: the Faith sale is now on, and if you want to buy something, I'd advise you to do it now, before all the sizes sell out. There are lots of Shoewawa favourites
It's a measure of how much I love New Look's shoes that finding out that they've finally started selling online is one of the best Christmas presents I could have asked for. There's a selection of clothes, accessories and, of course, shoes,
Kate loved them. Sienna loved them. They were seen on the feet of all of the shoe-savviest celebs all year long, so when Terry De Havilland announced that their 'Margaux' metallic

We've written about chocolate shoes before, but given that it's almost Christmas, I think we can probably expect to see a few more retailers coming up with gift ideas
While you've been decking the halls with boughs of holly, we've been scouring our archives looking for our favourite shoes from the past twelve months, for our Very Shoey Christmas Countdown! While some pairs are (sadly) no longer available, these are the pairs that have left us longing, or are featuring at the very top of our Christmas wishlist! Starting us off at Number 20...And to think it all started with a couple of pairs of slim jeans. It seems like Scandinavia's Julian Red has been expanding its line of hip, casualwear for men and women every season. It started with some cool T-shirts, now they're into sturdy, fitted jackets and sleek dresses and tops.

Say the words "patent knee high boots" and a lot of people will instantly think of a shorter version of the boots Julia Roberts wore in pretty woman. Luckily, these River Island knee highs a lot more classy than that, with their platform
Everyone should have a classic pair of brown heeled boots in their collection. It's a classic style that never seems to go out of fashion...
If I could change just one thing about these shoes, it would be the colour. While the silver shown is nice, it's just a little too "in your face" for my tastes, and the black colour these are also available in
Another week closer to Christmas, another pair of party shoes to adorn your feet! Purple is certainly big news this season, and if you're going to share in a piece of the purple pie, then why not make it a peep-toe? These wedges from Dorothy Perkins are classic in style, although the heel is a little unusual. It's the jewel-toned embellishments on the dark purple base, though, that make these more eye-catching than the usual metallic affairs we've been seeing in jewelled styles. If you're dying for another pair of peep-toes to wear with your Sunday best...
La Redoute have got the right idea with their sales, these gorgeous Edis riding boots that we feature have been reduced from 109 to 65 which places them in the affordable realm of quality boots
We've been seeing this "frill-front" detailing around for a while now, but while designers like Christian Louboutin have been adding it to delicate, strappy sandals, Topshop have
Well, one thing's for sure - you can't say you don't have lots of different colours to work with for this week's Play the Shoe Stylist: these shoes combine red, pink,
Writing about shoes can be great fun, but after a while - and hundreds of pairs every week - your eyes tend to seek out shoes that are on the unusual side. Sometimes, though? Simple really is the answer. These black satin party shoes are absolutely perfect. The pointy toe is refined, it has a simple d'Orsay shape, and the bow on the vamp is the icing on the cake. In ...
No, you're not reading that wrong, these shoes are by 7 for All Mankind, who are much more famous for their jeans than they are for their shoes. Footwear is a relatively new addition
We all know Miu Miu love their crystal embellishments, but whereas they normally stick to adding jewels to the toes of their shoes,
I find myself torn. On the one hand, I can appreciate that these are statement shoes that could appeal to many of you; and on the other hand? Well, they're kinda ugly! With a mix of stacked wedge, floral fabric, tweedy canvas, paisley patterns, cut-outs, a peep-toe and a bow - the mish-mash of trends fairly makes ...
Wellington boots have certainly made a fashionable comeback over the last few years - prior to that, you were hard pressed to find anything other than the old faithful green and black ones! We've already shown you the first batch of Woodland Trust wellies back in May (see related links), and now Dorothy Perkins have been kind enough to produce two new styles in rich autumnal colours...
There's a little part of me hates it when shoe shops do things like like - having "one day only" sales, so you feel like you just have to buy something, otherwise you'll be totally missing out. Or is that just me? Well, like it or not,
Yum. These pink and black sandals by Prada look almost good enough to eat! Personally, of course, I'd
It was the pairing of matte black and metallic gold that set tongues wagging in last week's Yay or Nay offering. Some of you were keen to flash a little gold at passersby, while others thought it was far too tacky (though the Yays won in the end!). If you're keen on a luxe pair of Roberto Cavalli boots, you can pick them up for a whopping $1748.95 from Zappos Couture. This week's offering...
What with all the chilly nights abounding lately, slippers are an absolute round-the-house must, and with such reasonable price tags, they make excellent stocking-stuffer gifts. These ballet slippers are terribly cute, and what with the Roger Hargreaves illustrations becoming all popular again lately, they're sure to be a hit with all...
"Frill Me" is the name of these Shellys court shoes, and they're "frilling"
I'm not quite sure what to make of this shoe. In the black and bronze colourways which it's also available in, it looks like a fairly standard court shoe, albeit with that unusual fan-shaped cut-out detailing at the

We've got a very special last minute offer especially for Shoewawa readers! Travel will be paid for and our fashion team will be on hand to...
I know this is the second time I've written about a pair of Prada shoes this week, but their current selection of party shoes is so pretty that I think they're worth writing home about. Like their stable mates, Miu Miu, Prada have decided to go
Now these shoes remind me a little of my childhood Clarks, y'know the ones your mum had you fitted for that were always 'supportive' but tended not to look that swish. Well these shoes, 55 from Monsoon seems to have taken that concept to heart and pimped up a pair of Mary Janes with a little bit of blue and white trim, but I'd still have to give them the thumbs down. They'r
Jane Shilton is a brand that doesn't tend to get a lot of attention from the fashion world, which is a shame because the shoes are high quality, and every so often they'll bring out something stunning.
Wedge heeled boots can often look a little on the chunky side, but that's not something you'll have to worry about with these 'Biscuit' boots from Oasis, which manage
When it comes to working in a "traditional" office, it can be difficult to break out of Plain Shoe Syndrome, for fear of being looked at as unprofessional. Fortunately though, Naughty Monkey have just the right kind of medicine! In chocolate brown pinstripe, croc-embossed trim and with a pretty swan buckle detail; they're completely suited to work and completely stylish! The ...
Well done to Jessica for correctly guessing that last week's shoe was by Steve Madden. They were the 'Trea' wedges, and are
A fun pair of shoes required an equally fun outfit, and we had some fabulous entries for this week's Play the Shoe Stylist challenge, with some of you deciding to throw caution to the wind and pair those bright prints with bright clothes, and others letting
